1. The Background
In 2020, a large supermarket chain in Finland contacted Chierda for help with internal communication in their warehouse.
The warehouse was very large and filled with cement walls and high metal shelves, which made communication between employees extremely difficult.
The company had previously tried walkie talkies from several other brands, but they encountered multiple problems:
Poor audio quality
Insufficient communication range
Bulky devices that were inconvenient for staff to carry
They were looking for a compact and reliable communication solution suitable for warehouse operations.
2. Initial Solution
After understanding their needs, Chierda recommended the X9 compact walkie talkie.

Due to the warehouse structure, including thick concrete walls and dense metal shelving, the radio signal was heavily blocked.
The actual communication distance dropped to around 600 meters, which could not meet the operational needs of the warehouse.
The client urgently needed a way to extend the communication range without replacing all existing radios.
3. Chierda’s Solution: Deploying a Repeater
After carefully analyzing the warehouse layout and communication requirements, our team proposed a more efficient solution:
Install a radio repeater V9 to extend the communication coverage.
At first, the client was unfamiliar with repeater technology.
To help them understand, we created a simple diagram explaining how a repeater works and how it can relay signals across obstacles.
Once the concept became clear, the client decided to install one repeater inside the warehouse.
4. Results
After the repeater was deployed, the communication coverage inside the warehouse improved significantly.
Key results:
Stable communication across the entire warehouse
Strong signal even through walls and shelves
Employees could communicate smoothly in all working areas
More importantly, the solution saved the customer a large amount of cost.
If the customer had chosen to replace all devices with longer-range radios, the upgrade would have cost at least $15,000.
By adding just one repeater, the supermarket solved the problem without replacing existing radios, greatly reducing the investment.
